The Forest Concession Management and Control Pilot Project, will improve forest management, through effective operational guidelines, and control procedures in forest concession areas, and, will establish forest crime monitoring, and prevention capabilities. The components will: 1) support the Department of Forestry and Wildlife (DFW), providing guidance, and quality control over concessionaire preparations in forest management plans. Field surveys, and inventories will be conducted, including assessment of management constraints, bio-diversity, and social issues, and risks of timber theft. Financing will be available to acquire satellite imagery, aerial photography, training, and technical assistance; 2) strengthen the capacity of the Forest Management Office of the DFW, to oversee operations, and ensure compliance with conditions established under the first component. Civil works, equipment, training, and technical assistance will be financed under this component; 3) strengthen the capacities of the Legal, and Litigation Office of the DFW, and the Ministry of Environment, in monitoring illegal logging, and setting effective prevention activities. Data collection, and analysis techniques will be introduced, along with equipment, and contractual services, to assist with the implementation of prevention plans; and, 4) provide coordination, management, and monitoring through the project management unit
