The Social Investment Fund Project's overall objective is to improve the access of the poor in relatively disadvantaged communities to basic social and economic infrastructure and services, largely by supporting small-scale projects, which are identified and implemented with a high degree of community participation. The project will consist of three components. The community projects'component will include projects of the following types: water and sanitation, health, economic infrastructure, education, social services, and organizational strengthening. The microenterprise credit component will provide credits to community based microenterprises. The institutional support component will help develop a viable, autonomous management, finance the administrative and operational costs of the organization while establishing operational capacity through technical assistance, studies and training
